My child began to read before he began to speak. Letters resonated more strongly than speech sounds. For the first three years of his life, most of the words he learned to speak he learned to read first. 

This was NOT accidental, it was intentionally making the most of his innate ability. 

In recent standardized tests he fell in the 90th percentile for receptive language and vocabulary. 

For the hyperlexic child, the key is to communicate with them through their language and they will begin to grasp ours!
